At the northern end of Myall Lakes national park is the historical Sugarloaf point lighthouse, which is one of only two lighthouse towers in Australia with an external stairway. Just before you reach the beautiful lighthouse itself, you'll get to experience the Seal Rocks Lighthouse Keepers Cottages. These lighthouse cottages are plucked straight from history, they've been around since way back in 1875. Back in the day, the lighthouse was manned by a team of dedicated lighthouse keepers who lived in these cottages with their families. They were responsible for keeping the lighthouse running 24/7, and they had to be ready to jump into action at a moment's notice if there was an emergency at sea.
