Surfing at Seals Rocks

Catch a wave straight to paradise at the wild and remote beaches around Seal Rocks. Start with Number One Beach, right across the road from Seal Rocks Holiday Park. Perfect for beginner to median surfers, Number One Beach offers a safe easy time to practice your skills before heading up to Boomerang Beach, where rock ledges create great waves for surfing, or down to Lighthouse Beach with powerful waves at each end and some good wind protection.

All Seal rocks beaches are pristine, unspoilt, surfing beaches with crystal-clear waters that glisten in the sun like diamonds. You'll feel like you're surfing in your own private oasis, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Day out fishing

There are plenty of spots to cast your line and hook some fish at this coastal gem.

You can throw a line straight from Treachery Beach, Just find a good spot where the water is deep enough and the waves aren't too crazy, and you're good to go. You might even catch a few waves while you wait for the fish to bite!

If you're feeling more adventurous, you can try your luck off the rocks around Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse. The rugged outcroppings are perfect for rock fishing. Just make sure you wear sturdy shoes and be careful - safety first.

A quick trip inland will take you to the beautiful Myall Lakes National Park, it's home to a wide variety of fish species, from Bream and Whiting to Flathead and even Australian Salmon. Whether you're a bait fisherman or a lure enthusiast, you're bound to have some luck in these waters.

Take in the views from the Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse

At the northern end of Myall Lakes national park is the historical Sugarloaf point lighthouse, which is one of only two lighthouse towers in Australia with an external stairway. Located at the top of the rocky headland, the lighthouse overlooks the whole east coast, from the holiday park to the north to down around the coast to Treachery Beach.

Just before you reach the beautiful lighthouse itself, you'll get to experience the Seal Rocks Lighthouse Keepers Cottages. These lighthouse cottages are plucked straight from history, they've been around since way back in 1875. Back in the day, the lighthouse was manned by a team of dedicated lighthouse keepers who lived in these cottages with their families. They were responsible for keeping the lighthouse running 24/7, and they had to be ready to jump into action at a moment's notice if there was an emergency at sea.
