Just up the road from Laurieton and an easy drive from Port Macquarie and Camden Haven Reflections Holiday Parks Bonny Hills is the ideal base for exploring this lovely part of the NSW mid-north coast.

Whether you’re into arts and culture, family fun, adventure or natural attractions, there’s bound to be something to make your visit just that little more special.

Here’s 10 of our favourite things to do in the Bonny Hills and Greater Port Macquarie region.

Rainbow Beach

Dazzling white sands, fantastic surfing, dog-friendly (on a leash) and within a stone’s throw of Reflections Holiday Parks Bonny Hills. Yep, Rainbow Beach is as special as the name suggests. Take a swim (it’s seasonally patrolled), go for a surf, or simply relax on the sand with a good book.

Koala Hospital

Less than 30 minutes’ drive from Bonny Hills is where you’ll find the famous Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. Join a guided tour, see the koalas being fed and learn more about the important work of this special organisation.

Billabong Zoo: Koala and Wildlife Park

Want even more koalas? Visit Billabong Zoo and pat, feed, hold, hear and see over 80 species of mammals, reptiles and birds. Learn more about their world-renowned koala breeding program, listen to a free Zoo Talk, or take part in a special up-close animal encounter.

A whale of a time …

You’ll see them from Bonny Hills Holiday Park during their annual migration but if you want an even closer experience then it’s best to get out on a boat. Check out Port Macquarie Cruise Adventures, Port Jet and The Cruise Terminal for their whale watching options.

To market, to market

The popular Laurieton Riverwalk Markets are held on the third Sunday of each month, whilst the Artist Market – held on the fourth Sunday of the month in the grounds of the Maritime Museum - showcases an eclectic mix of works by local artists, together with live music and free workshops.

North Brother Mountain

Feeling energetic? Then head to North Brother Mountain. Situated in the Dooragan National Park, the Laurieton track is challenging, but the views from the summit are worth it. Those who prefer a less strenuous outing will equally enjoy the stunning Rainforest loop.

Here’s one for the adventurers. This area is renowned for its paragliding, so why not give it a go while you’re here? High Adventure Paragliding is known as one of the best paragliding schools in Australia and has access to over 12 flying sites in the region. You’ll be on cloud nine!

Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park

New to the scene, the Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park offers approximately 50 km of purpose built single track in the nearby Queens Lake State Forest. Bring along the mountain bike and pedal away the afternoon.

Bonny Hills Garden Centre
